The formation of the Black Youth Seed Fund was a watershed moment for us as it was a realisation of our long held desire to support young aspiring entrepreneurs with the skills, advice and guidance denied us in times gone past. Looking forward, we have been able to support young men and women access funding and mentorship for their businesses and the response and feedback was so overwhelmingly positive we want to continue giving the same support more often, more regularly and more collectively, with you.

Today, we stand at a pivotal time in history; post BLM, post London riots, post COVID, this is a moment that necessitates our unshakable devotion and concerted action. Our children are our future, and it is our solemn duty to provide them with the tools, knowledge, and support they require to attain long-term wealth, financial freedom, and self-actualisation.

Our community has faced several difficulties, institutional injustices, and impediments to prosperity for years. Despite this, we have overcome adversity with resilience, courage, and an unwavering spirit. Now is the moment to channel that energy towards ensuring a greater future for our children.

 

Why is this important?

 

Generic Wealth: The amassing of generational wealth is the first step towards long-term transformation. We have the ability to interrupt the cycle of economic disadvantage by preparing our children to generate, conserve, and pass on wealth to future generations.

 

Financial Independence: Financial independence is not a pipe dream; it is an attainable goal. We can free our young people from the chains of debt and financial insecurity by giving them with financial knowledge, business skills, and access to resources.

 

Self-Achievement: Each of our young minds possesses enormous potential. We allow people to self-actualize, attain their full potential, and contribute to the growth and prosperity of our community by cultivating their abilities, passions, and aspirations.

 

Our Promise

 

It is time for us as a community to come together and declare our everlasting dedication to the following principles:

Economic Empowerment: We will stimulate entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and access to finance while creating chances for economic empowerment.

Cultural Survival: We shall celebrate and maintain our rich cultural past, instilling in our kids a feeling of pride and identity.

​

Community Governance: We have started a community fund. We are seeking trustees to oversee governance of the fund as an asset for the community and  who will support us in ensuring our resources are wisely distributed and that our collective impact is felt.

This call to arms is not a choice; it is a requirement. The acts we take now will determine the future of our community. We will not tolerate a world in which our children are denied the opportunity to thrive. We oppose the current status quo, which promotes inequity and limits their potential.

 

We can break the cycle of generational poverty by banding together and leaving a legacy of prosperity and empowerment for future generations. Our power comes from our solidarity, and our resolve is unbreakable.
